Meet Suraj

Every disability is a long journey
Like most children who come to us, his parents were overwhelmed and didn’t know how to care for his unique needs.

We met Suraj when he was 4 years old.
Suraj was a gift to us.
He taught us in ways we didn’t expect. Through his unique, creative, problem-solving approach he suggested ways that helped him control his involuntary movements. We have used his techniques to support other children with similar challenges.
Suraj is now 21.
Through our continuous therapy and support, Suraj has discovered his passion for carpentry and weaving.

He now shares his skills with other children and inspires them to live a life of dignity.

"I never thought my child would be able to get out of his bed, but now he is walking around the neighbourhood. I know that sending my child to Anugrah means that he is going to be loved and helped. "

The Difference Anugrah is Making

Life with a Disability in India

The family is under significant financial distress. There are tremendous stigmas. Mothers are blamed for the disability, fathers are often absent, and children may be considered a burden. Avenues for opportunity and inclusion are extremely limited, and people are at risk of being neglected.

A Ray of Hope

Anugrah has stepped into this challenge to provide a range of services aimed at caring for families and raising awareness in the community. We work directly with people with disabilities, treating them with dignity to create opportunities and improve their quality of life.

We Need Your Help

Lack of Early Intervention

75% of a child’s development occurs in their first three years.

When children do not have sufficient resources during this time, it has permanent implications for their long-term health and mobility. The number of children in this region who need our help is staggering.

Burden on the Families

Families with a child with disabilities are often under significant strain

Without the support of our programs, this can lead to abuse or abandonment of the child with disability. It can also affect healthy siblings who may be forced into child labor and trafficking.

Societal Stigmas

Raising community awareness and working to include children with disabilities in mainstream schools is an urgent need.

Children with disabilities face stigmas that can substantially limit their access to education and impede their ability to contribute and have a valued role in society.

How You Can Help

"The work Anugrah does has a deep and lasting impact in the lives of countless families. I have experienced first hand how deeply grateful families are - not just for the services they receive, but for being treated with love, care, and dignity. I cannot think of a better cause to support. Anugrah is made up of the most dedicated people I have ever come to know."

Come volunteer with us and transform lives

"The Anugrah team is doing incredible work to support people with disabilities. Having been able to volunteer my time on two separate occasions has been an incredibly rewarding experience. First working together to create a strategic plan, and then a website, has left me wanting to do more to support the work Anugrah is doing and I’m excited to see what the next volunteer opportunity will be."
